ABOUT CASTEISM STUDIES NETWORK

VK New Passport Profile.jpg

“Caste discrimination is not an Indian issue alone, it is a human issue. Casteism Studies is an attempt to create sustained conversations that question hierarchies and advocate dignity for all.”

Welcome to Casteism Studies Network

Casteism Studies was established by Dr Vikrant Kishore, a filmmaker-academic whose work bridges creative practice, documentary filmmaking, and social justice research. His documentaries and publications focus on caste, culture, and identity in India and the Indian diaspora.

The initiative emerged from Dr Kishore’s long-term engagement with Dalit and Adivasi issues, both through on-ground documentation and academic inquiry. It connects fieldwork, interviews, and multimedia storytelling to analyse caste in contemporary societies.

Areas of Focus

  • Casteism in diaspora communities

  • Digital journalism and Dalit/Adivasi media interventions.

  • Documentary films as advocacy for social justice.

  • Representation of caste in Indian and global media.

  • Cultural heritage and its relationship with social equality.
